Wow! Do a Google search for the simple word “recipes” and you will find results of more than 200 million web pages. What a nightmare! How can you find the perfect recipe that you are looking for? What if you have a pound of ground beef and really want to prepare an Italian or Chinese meal?

Well, you could obviously start narrowing down your internet search by adding more descriptive words or phrases to your search criteria. And depending on the reason for your recipe search at the time, that may be the most effective thing to begin trying.
But Google has added a very nice little tool to aid in your recipe search. They have provided a way to select both the cuisine and the main ingredient to match the recipe you are looking for.
Try it and see. Just go to Google and enter the word ‘recipes’ (without the quotes) in your search box and click on the search button. Look – do you see it? Just below the top advertising you will see two dropdown boxes. The cuisine box has 10 – 15 different choices. The main ingredient dropdown box has almost thirty choices available. Experiment with it and see what weird combinations you can come up with. One note – you have to type the word recipes and not the word recipe (without the ‘s’) for this option to appear.
Now while this little feature is cool and helpful in the right circumstances, it is not always enough. Let’s say for instance that you wanted to search for recipes for Healthy Cooking or low-fat cooking. Then you would have to rely more on your search box criteria knowledge and skills… But don’t despair. With over 200 million recipe web pages out there, you are bound to find what you are looking for. Don’t give up! And have fun searching!
