To avoid cutting onions, garlic, peppers and other spices every time you are cooking, just prepare a large batch in advance for the freezer. But how do you store them in such a way as for easy measuring for later use?

Use onions, green peppers, red peppers, garlic, tomato paste, and other spices like basil, oregano, pepper and blend to a paste in a blender. Then freeze the paste in ice cube trays and store them in a plastic zip-lock bag in the freezer. Each cube is about one serving. This way you don't have to keep cut vegetables in the fridge and you can speed up your cooking by getting the exact amount of spices you need. If you are cooking 4 servings use 3-4 cubes depending on just how spicy you like it.

I also like this particular cooking tip because it is simple and very practical. Now don’t get me wrong. I like some of the more sophisticated and complex cooking tips too. In fact one of my goals is to someday have the time and money to actually go to one off the many Cooking Schools available. Just thinking about the fancy gadgets, expensive equipment, and spacious kitchens makes me drool… not to mention the cool chef’s hats!

But alas, I guess I will be content with all of the free cooking tips available online. However, I have come to realize the one cooking tip that would make my life easier is to move my computer into the kitchen. Too many steps and too much time are wasted going from the office to the kitchen. Maybe I should check into one of those internet- connected computerized refrigerators…. How’s that for a weird cooking tip?
